Leadership guru and New York Times best-selling author John Maxwell once told me,
“When you’re gone, people will sum up your life in one sentence. Best if you decide for yourself what that is before they do“.
I was so inspired by that advice that I put those words on my crest, reminding me and anyone I have the pleasure of working with, “Laisez votre nomme etre rapelle” meaning, “How will your name be remembered?“
I did a nice piece on JFK a while ago about this (my 2nd most popular post ever), but I read a book this morning by Bono who has clearly decided what his own sentence is going to be. Being Bono, he obviously had a lot to say and didn’t hold back – but it was such a great statement that I wanted to show you. Perhaps it might even inspire you to create a statement of your own…
“I’m a scribbling, cigar-smoking, wine-drinking, Bible-reading band man. A show off… who loves to paint ideas of what I can’t see. A husband, father, friend to the poor and sometimes the rich. An activist traveling salesman of ideas. Chess player, part-time rock star, opera singer, in the loudest folk group band in the world“.
It’s not one sentence I know but it’s Bono, so you’ve got to indulge him! (If there is a heaven by the way, I want to be there when he arrives. That would be one serious party)…

How about…..
Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
A x
You are just too cool for school. Very funny epitaph by the way. How did you lose your way and end up in e-commerce? You should be making £serious as a copywriter….
Maybe I can do that on the side, in the spare hour between dinner and bed!
How do I apply?
people are stupid
